About the Role:
We are seeking aPart-Time SEN English Teacherto join our dedicated team at aHospital SchoolinChelsea. This is a3-day-a-week, fixed-termposition, providing an exciting opportunity to teachEnglishto students studying forGCSE and A-Levelqualifications while they receive medical treatment. You will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, adapting lessons to ensure each student can succeed academically despite their medical challenges.
As an SEN teacher, you will help students engage with the English curriculum, preparing them for exams and supporting their educational needs in anurturing and inclusive environment. This role is ideal for someone with experience inGCSE and A-Level English teaching, particularly within aspecial educational needscontext.
Key Responsibilities:
* TeachEnglishatGCSE and A-Level, providing high-quality lessons tailored to the needs of students with special educational needs.
* Develop and implementindividualized education plans(IEPs) and strategies to support students withlearning difficultiesormedical conditions.
* Provideone-to-one supportfor students, helping them engage with their learning and prepare for their assessments.
* Collaborate with themultidisciplinary team, including medical staff and teaching assistants, to ensure the students' academic and emotional needs are met.
* Track and report on student progress, providing feedback toparents and caregiversand ensuring students stay on track with their learning goals.
* Maintain aninclusive classroom environment, fostering confidence and encouraging students to actively participate in their lessons.
* Support students through the exam preparation process, ensuring they are well-prepared for theirGCSE and A-Level English assessments.
Essential Criteria:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)with experience teachingGCSE and A-Level English.
* Proven experience working withstudents with special educational needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support students facing health challenges.
* Ability to differentiate teaching and resources to meet the needs of individual students.
* A patient, empathetic approach to teaching, with a focus on creating a supportive learning environment.
* Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage and track student progress effectively.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience teaching in ahospital schoolor similarhealthcare education setting.
* Familiarity with strategies for supporting students withmedical conditionsandSEN.
* Knowledge ofspecialized assessment techniquesused in SEN education.
