The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across a number of sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design, to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. About the role
The Energy Unit, specifically the Nuclear, Defence and Civil division are recruiting a Principal Structural Engineer to be part of the Structural Analysis team delivering projects within the nuclear industry. The role will be to work support design activities by performing analysis focused on Finite Element Analysis. The role will require the Principal Engineering Analyst to deliver analysis packages, develop client relationships and increase opportunities across the Defence Nuclear sector and leverage this capability into the Civil Nuclear sector. Preferred locations for the role are London, Southampton and Bristol to support junior members of staff.

Responsibilities:
* Conduct analysis with appropriate verification and validation.
* Review analysis conducted by junior team members.
* Mentor and support professional development of junior team members.
* Produce and review of design calculations supporting analysis.
* Produce high quality documentation tailored to the specific stage of project completion.
* Lead analysis teams on projects.
* Leading the preparation of bids and estimates.
* Work within a multidiscipline environment ensuring effective communication with project stakeholders.
Requirements:
* Conducting, leading and delivering analysis in highly regulated industries.
* An understanding of the contribution of analysis to nuclear Safety Cases.
* Detailed understanding of Finite Element Analysis.
* Experience using LS-DYNA is preferred.
* Experience in Soil-Structure-Interaction (SSI) is preferred.
* Chartered status and post graduate experience with experience working in the nuclear sector is beneficial.
* Previous experience in working on relevant projects.
