An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practitioner to join the CHCP Integrated Safeguarding Team on a permanent basis (Band 7).
Interested parties should possess a Specialist Community Public Health Qualification (Health Visiting/School Nursing) and/or Children's Nursing Qualification and have a sound knowledge of Safeguarding Children.
The hours of work will be 22.5 hours. The service operates 5 days Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job
* To work as defined in 'Working Together' (DfES, 2018) to offer specialist knowledge and provide specialist support for all issues relating to the protection and promotion of the welfare of vulnerable children.
* To undertake a key role in communication to all grades of staff within the Organisation and partner agencies around the safeguarding children agenda.
* To provide advice and expertise to fellow professionals across the Organisation in matters relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* To support the Organisation in its clinical governance agenda by ensuring that audits are undertaken that address the safeguarding responsibilities of the organisation.
* To undertake a support role in the delivery of training in safeguarding children within the Organisation and to co-facilitate inter-agency training with partners from the Hull Safeguarding Children Partnership where appropriate.
* To participate in the development of policies/protocols and guidance for staff around safeguarding children matters.
* To support and assist staff in accessing legal advice whilst fulfilling their professional legal obligations in safeguarding children matters.
* To ensure that robust safeguarding children supervision processes are established and maintained in accordance with local policies across the Organisation.
* To represent the Organisation in a variety of interagency forums and actively support partner agencies to protect vulnerable children.

Qualifications
Essential
* First Level Registered Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
* Specialist Community Public Health Qualification (Health Visiting/School Nursing) and/or Children's Nursing Qualification.
* Educated to degree level with evidence of further academic study relevant to safeguarding children.
Desirable
* Possession of a recognised teaching qualification.
Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of legislation that underpins safeguarding children practice, i.e., Working Together 2018, Children Act 1989/2004.
* Basic IT skills.
* Knowledge of clinical governance, professional development, and clinical leadership agendas.
* Understanding of clinical risk/reporting issues.
* A knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Possesses well-developed knowledge and keeps safeguarding practice base up to date to provide guidance and training to staff.
Desirable
* Knowledge of local policy and procedures relating to safeguarding children.
Experience
Essential
* Demonstrable experience of working with children and families where child welfare concerns have been integral to the role and where critical thinking and analysis of complex cases has been required/evidenced.
* Able to work to a high degree of independence but participative in team activities with colleagues within multidisciplinary teams.
* Experienced in/qualified in Safeguarding Children Supervision.
* Able to organise and lead meetings e.g., Supervision, staff group & Team briefings, Multi-agency meetings.
Desirable
* Experience of challenging poor or inadequate practice.
* Confident in the requirements of audit processes and can utilise these to inform the governance agenda of the Organisation.
* Experience of delivering training and/or presentations.
* Confident attending meetings and presenting information.
