1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Here at Teaching Personnel, we are currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant, with experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to join an excellent school in the Northampton area.
Location: Northampton, NN1
Salary: £95-£100 per day (dependent on experience).
Details: Full-time, Mon – Fri (8.20am-3.30pm).
Job Description:
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing personalised support to a child, on a 1:1 basis, ensuring they receive a tailored education dependent on their needs. Working closely with the classroom teacher and the SENDCO, you will help to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, enabling the child to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEND, adapting learning materials to meet their specific needs.
2. Assist the class teacher with daily preparation, activities and ensure that the child remains engaged and motivated.
3. Implement an Individual Learning Plan (ILPs) and contribute to the monitoring of the child’s progress.
4. Work collaboratively with parents, teaching and other specialists to ensure holistic development.
5. Support the child with their social and emotional development, encouraging them to build self-esteem and confidence.
6. Ensure the child’s safety and well-being during the school day.
Requirements:
1. Level 2 or 3 Qualification in Childcare (or other relevant qualification).
2. Experience working with children with SEND is essential.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
5. Ability to work within a team and independently.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. A degree in Education, Special Educational Needs, Psychology (or related field).
2. Additional SEND training or qualification.
