Out Of Hours Medical Laboratory Assistant
We have an exciting opportunity for an Out Of Hours Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Pathology team based at The London Clinic in central London, W1G 6BW. The salary is competitive and depends on skills and experience.
The London Clinic Pathology department is committed to providing excellent service. It is accredited by UKAS under ISO15189:2012, with additional accreditations for stem cell services (JACIE) and regulation by the HTA and MHRA.
Our services include allergy, biochemistry, endocrinology, haematology, blood transfusion, histology, cytology, immunology, microbiology, and stem cell services.
Job Profile
The MLA works in sample reception, supporting biomedical scientists (BMS) in pathology areas when needed.
Job Type: Full-time, permanent, 37.5 hours/week.
Shifts: Monday – Friday, with weekend cover as required, predominantly night shifts (7:00 pm - 8:00 am) on a three-week rota, including every third weekend.
Location: The London Clinic’s Pathology Department, 116 Harley Street, London W1G 7JL.
Salary: Competitive, based on skills and experience.

Key Duties
* Identify and sort samples from wards, outpatients, GPs, and external sources
* Label and centrifuge samples for testing
* Handle improperly labelled specimens according to policy, investigate mislabelled/mislaid samples, inform requesters
* Charge patient accounts using Meditech
* Input patient test data accurately, check for discrepancies, and notify senior staff
Skills & Experience
* Pathology or scientific background required
* Experience in medical or pathology departments preferred
* Computer literacy and customer service skills
* Teamwork ability
