We are seeking a Specialty Doctor in Pain Management to join our team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
We would welcome applications from GPs or other Doctors with a special interest in Pain Management.
Main duties of the job
Patient safety, dignity, and care are the highest priority and at the centre of all that we do.
The post-holder is expected to provide high-quality Pain Medicine to be delivered to patients including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients attending the hospital.
The post-holder will have their own lists of patients that they see as new patients and be expected to follow up and treat as appropriate. If they are unable to offer a particular treatment, they will liaise with the consultant team to either learn the new technique or pass over responsibility for care.
The post-holder will also be expected to take over the care of some existing patients in the pain service.
The post-holder will help to improve efficiency and ensure delivery of patient care based on KPIs for our current commissioned activity.
To liaise with clinicians and managers within and outside the department to address any issues arising that may affect the services.
The specialist will also maintain relationships including some supervision and collaboration where appropriate with other Teams across the ICB involved with the provision of Chronic Pain (e.g., Primary Care Practitioners, pharmacists, rehabilitation teams).
To participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
To communicate with local GPs.

WEEKLY TIMETABLE / JOB PLAN
The current rota is Monday to Friday working across the Torbay and South Devon Locality. Additional PAs may be available to reflect extended working day and weekend working.
Direct Clinical Care (DCC): 4 PAs per week
Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs): 1 PA per week
On-Call Activity: currently no on-call commitment.
Please note that the agreed level of duties in relation to SPAs, additional responsibilities, and other duties will be reviewed after 12 months in post.
