DOLS referral Officer (Level 4)
Description
The DOLS Referral Officer (Level 4) plays a critical role in ensuring that the rights of individuals who may lack the capacity to consent to their care and treatment are protected in accordance with the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) framework. As a DOLS Referral Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and processing referrals for DOLS assessments, guiding the application process from initial referral through to approval and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Your expertise will support decision-making processes that uphold the dignity and rights of vulnerable adults, collaborating closely with care teams, stakeholders, and legal representatives. In addition to managing individual cases, you will be involved in training and educating staff regarding DOLS legislation and best practices, ensuring that all personnel are aware of their responsibilities in safeguarding individuals’ liberties and that they adhere to organizational policies. The role necessitates a proactive approach in monitoring and reviewing existing cases, preparing documentation for DoLS Panels, and maintaining accurate records and databases. You will be expected to provide high-quality support to individuals, families, and professionals, continually promoting the best interests of those at risk of deprivation of liberty while fostering a culture of transparency and accountability within the organization.
Responsibilities
Process and coordinate DOLS referrals in a timely and efficient manner.
Conduct assessments to determine eligibility for DOLS applications.
Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and care providers regarding DOLS matters.
Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and case records following organizational procedures.
Monitor ongoing DOLS cases, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Provide guidance and training to staff on Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss cases and share best practices.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in social work, nursing, or a related field.
Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Experience in handling DOLS processes and assessments in a healthcare or social care setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks effectively under pressure.
Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
Commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of individuals with care needs.

Pay Per Hour: £14.00
