Position - Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer
Location - Plymouth
Travel - Required to site once every 4-6 weeks.
Hybrid working - Can be based remotely or at one of our Nuvia offices at Milton Park, Oxford or Risley Park, Warrington.
Arrangement - Contracted (Inside IR35) or Staff.
Salary - Dependent on experience

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.
Supporting one of our key clients, we are looking for Senior Mechanical Handling Engineers to support the Dock readiness Projects of a nuclear licensed site. This will involve providing mechanical assistance and managing activities so that processes are properly, adequately, and efficiently implemented across the project.
Responsibilities of a Mechanical Handling Engineer -
1. Draft technical design information such as requirements, design reports, presentations, and calculations.
2. Oversee and support the generation of 3D, 2D CAD drawings and BOMs.
3. Draft technical queries and change records.
4. Update and supply relevant information including job plans and inspections.
5. Analyze existing design records.
6. Maintain current design records.
7. Determine time frames.
8. Work on dock bottom lift, scheme design, controlled design.
9. Build and construct new fence/turnstile/access perimeter/CCTV.
10. Install new electrical systems and remove existing HVAC systems.
11. Upgrade facility markings, including pedestrian markings.
Qualification and experience -
To be considered for this role in Senior Mechanical Handling, you should have most of the following:
Essential for a Mechanical Handling Engineer:
1. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
2. Experience and knowledge of engineering and process development; specifically in mechanical handling or electrical systems.
3. Understanding of mechanical design is essential.
4. Knowledge of a nuclear civil or defense site will be valuable.
5. Effective report writing and presentation skills.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. Understanding of analysis tools and data platforms such as Word, Excel, and Autodesk Vault.
Desirable:
1. Chartered Engineer status or a member of a relevant institute.
2. Experience within the nuclear industry on a licensed site.
3. Knowledge or experience of defense or Nuclear safety cases and requirements.
