Job Title: IT Infrastructure Engineering Specialist (Security Cleared Eligible)
The role is based in Leeds and requires five days onsite the first two months, then hybrid with three days onsite until the end of September.
Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Engineering Specialist to join our team. The role requires expertise in modern server operating systems, networking fundamentals, and IT security management, along with an awareness of agile methodologies and microservices architecture. You will work closely with various teams to ensure the efficient management and support of production systems, troubleshooting issues and ensuring the security and integrity of the infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide engineering expertise for the design, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
* Collaborate with the team to ensure that Servers and systems are secure, reliable, and optimized.
* Troubleshoot infrastructure issues efficiently and provide solutions.
* Maintain a strong understanding of IP Networking fundamentals and resolve networking-related issues.
* Contribute to IT security management and maintain awareness of emerging security risks and threats.
* Work in an agile environment, supporting and contributing to the adoption of agile methodologies.
* Support microservices and service-oriented architecture implementations.
Essential Skills:
* Operating Systems: Solid knowledge of modern server operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux.
* Command Line: Basic command line proficiency for interacting with Servers (eg, Bash, PowerShell).
* Networking: Strong understanding of IP Networking fundamentals.
* Troubleshooting: Excellent troubleshooting abilities in infrastructure environments.
* IT Security Management: Experience with IT security practices and tools.
* Agile Methodologies: Understanding and familiarity with agile methodologies.
* Microservices/SOA: Awareness of microservices and service-oriented architecture principles.
* Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Skills:
* Windows Server Knowledge: Experience with Active Directory (AD), DNS, and server management.
* Oracle Database Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle database administration.
* Cisco Accreditation: Cisco certification or equivalent.
* Programming Skills: Basic programming skills, particularly in Bash Scripting or Perl.
* Tenacious Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently apply solutions to production systems.
* Operating Systems: Additional proficiency in Linux and Scripting.
