About the opportunity
We are recruiting for a Procurement Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team. This role is a great opportunity for anyone looking to commence and develop their career in the nuclear sector. The NPETS team supports our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with regards to their nuclear fleet in the UK. You will be part of a large client-led team at EDF’s Sizewell B Power Station location and this role will support multiple projects within their UK wide project portfolio which may include existing generation, nuclear defueling, nuclear new build and/or nuclear decommissioning.
Sizewell B began construction in 1988 and since 1995 has generated 250 TWh of zero carbon electricity, which is the equivalent of enough to power every home in Suffolk for 192 years, or like taking 42 million cars off UK roads for a year. You will be part of a large client-led team at Sizewell B Power Station and will be accountable to the client Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible, however the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain & manage the technical/quality aspects of the site's spares and equipment catalogue.
* Develop procurement specifications, in conjunction with technical specialists & buyers.
* Maintain compliance with all required standards and arrangements applicable to the specification of plant spares & services and assist in the resolution of Quality and Technical problems.
* Monitor and advise on shelf life extensions and plant refurbishment activities.
* Assist in addressing obsolescence issues including reverse engineering and carryout QC and Store Hold Inspections.
* Provide advice and input for procurement engineering training and support and underpin the Materials Planning process.
* Working Knowledge of AP928 and Work Management Process.
* Represent SZB Supply Chain at Station and Corporate meetings.
Minimum Requirements
* Educated to minimum HNC level in an engineering discipline.
* Sound working knowledge of technical & quality assurance arrangements.
* Knowledge of standards applicable to the procurement of spare parts allied to good commercial awareness.
* Credibility necessary to represent the Company and the Supply Chain Group.
* A flexible working approach which includes supplier & other business unit visits necessary to support continuous improvement.
