Role – Operations Controller
Contract – Permanent
Location - Crewe
Working Hours – average 40.5 hours per week (4 on, 4 off, 18:30 – 06:30 nights)

The Role:
Working on a 4 on 4 off basis in our Crewe depot you will help us deliver customer requirements within operating instructions.
What You’ll Do:
1. Carry out tasks to deliver customer requirements, in accordance with laid down operating instructions, ensuring compliance at all times.
2. Safe movement of rail vehicles.
3. Safe stabling of rail vehicles including all depot and vehicle protection is applied.
4. Radio, phone and verbal communication that meets railway approved standards.
5. Responsible for communications on controlling train movements on and around the depot.
6. Ensure mainline drivers understand the depot and can locate their rail vehicles.
7. Act as PICoTM for the Depot and be responsible for Rail Vehicle movements on depot.
8. Arrive and Depart trains on and off the depot in accordance with depot procedures.
9. Arrive and Depart rail vehicles on TOPS and other reporting systems used at Arriva Traincare.
10. Ensure efficient throughput of vehicles to enable smooth and safe operation of the depot.
11. Act as Designated person of work area as required.
12. Ensure the safe operation of all depot protection systems in accordance with laid down procedures.
13. Liaise and manage TOC and FOC drivers whilst they are on Depot.
14. Communicate with the signal box.
15. Where necessary training and competency requirements have been met, operate plant and equipment as required to meet the needs of the business.
16. Mentor and develop other members of the team to carry out the DP and PICoTM roles.
What You Bring:
* Qualifications: good standard of education.
* Experience: previous experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle maintenance activities or depot operations is desirable.
* Knowledge: good understanding of depot operations and the movement of rail vehicles.
* Skills: strong communication skills, team oriented with a commitment to high standards and maintaining efficient operations.
