Senior Investment Analyst
About the Role:
Merseyside Pension Fund (MPF) is one of the largest local government pension funds in the UK and part of the Northern LGPS Pool and is actively engaged in investing collaboratively in pursuit of efficiencies across all asset classes. As part of the Northern LGPS Pool, MPF currently operates within a joint committee structure. However, following the Fit for Future consultation issued in November 2024, it is anticipated that the Pool will transition into an FCA-regulated entity, operating independently from its partner funds. Consequently, the MPF investment team is expected to transfer to this newly regulated entity under TUPE regulations.
We are looking for a Senior Investment Analyst to join our dynamic Private Markets Team at MPF. In this role you will prepare and maintain extensive due diligence reports and support investment decision making and portfolio construction using internal and external sources of data and research. You will assist the Director of Pensions, Head of Private Markets and Portfolio Managers in evaluating new investment opportunities, writing investment papers for the Investment Committee, executing on investment transactions, and for existing investments regularly review the performance, attribution, exposure and risk metrics.
In addition, you will participate in internal and external investment meetings, assist in administrative tasks, deputise for Portfolio Managers and Head of Private where needed and liaise closely with the Head of Private Markets to ensure an integrated investment approach and provide feedback on the quality and depth of due diligence and monitoring processes.
About the candidate:
You will be a highly motivated individual with a strong attention to detail and good technical skills including an ability to assimilate disparate information and develop well-reasoned and coherent conclusions. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required and an interest in pursuing an investment qualification would be an advantage.
MPF pursues a policy of Responsible Investment (RI), arising from the belief that environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors will materially affect investment performance over the long term. Candidates should be aware of sustainability issues and their long-term implications for investors.
If you wish to discuss this role or require further information, please contact Adil Manzoor, Head of Pensions (Private Markets) on email adilmanzoor@wirral.gov.uk
Interviews to be held week commencing 5th May 2025.
