This post is for a Consultant Physician in General (Internal) Medicine and Rheumatology. This post holder will have joint General Medical and Rheumatology responsibilities. The job is a full-time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). Applicants who wish to work less than full time are very welcome to apply. Main duties of the job
The post holder will join two full time consultant General Physician / Rheumatologists and four pure Rheumatologists.
The post holder will have responsibility for medical inpatients in a newly-built block of Frimley Park Hospital opening in January 2025, joining the two other Physician / Rheumatologists on a rotational basis.
The post holder will have outpatient clinics on and off site
The post will also involve teaching and supervision of junior staff, with involvement in teaching programmes within Frimley Park and within local GP surgeries.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will have responsibility for medical inpatients in a newly-built block of Frimley Park Hospital opening in January 2025, joining the two other Physician / Rheumatologists on a rotational basis. The block will also house patients under the care of respiratory and renal teams, allowing close multi-disciplinary collaboration. The post holder will be part of the general medical on-call rota which is currently 1:8 weekends.
The post holder will have outpatient clinics on and off site. He/she will undertake a share of the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients, the running of the rheumatology department and the directorate. The post holder will play an important part in developing this service. In particular, Frimley Park is in the process of moving to a newly-built hospital site by 2030, and the post holder will have the opportunity to play an active role in the transformational plan associated with this exciting project. The setting up of a specialist interest clinic will also be encouraged.
The post will also involve teaching and supervision of junior staff, with involvement in teaching programmes within Frimley Park and within local GP surgeries. The post holder will be expected to engage with local patient groups (e.g. NRAS).
Audit is carried out on one half day per month throughout the hospital. Study leave and a study budget are provided for continuing professional development.
The appointee will have access to a medical secretary, dedicated office space plus full IT facilities including a trust laptop allowing remote working via the EPIC electronic patient record which we have been using since July 2022
