About this role
Capital One’s mobile application is our primary method of engaging with our customers - and a key driver in our mission to Change Banking for Good.
We are seeking an experienced technical leader to join our Customer Engagement team, focusing on Mobile engineering, delivering impactful features that directly impact how our customers engage with Capital One - and enable them to use their credit card in the way that gives them the most benefit.
What you’ll do
1. You’ll lead a cross-functional group of engineers to design, develop and integrate software features that are delightful and vital to the lives of credit card consumers across all walks of life
2. Coach and nurture your engineers on how to grow and achieve their technical, business and personal goals
3. Support and grow the productivity of your Engineering team, enabling them to rapidly deliver high quality solutions, aligned with software development best practice.
4. Collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver features on the product roadmap, and influence the wider Mobile community within Capital One
5. Form part of the technical leadership of the Outcome team, enabling cross-team growth and delivery alongside continuous improvement of both Engineers and teams.
6. Build and own platforms that are performant, reliable, scalable and secure
7. Enhance and optimise the engineering and agile delivery processes with the team
What we’re looking for
8. You’ll have experience in leading and supporting an engineering team to achieve business goals
9. You’ll ideally come from a tech software engineering management background with an interest in working within the mobile space
10. You are comfortable owning delivery for your team, and ensuring high quality, impactful features meeting business and technical deadlines, with a focus on team efficiency and continued growth.
11. You’re comfortable in reaching technical trade-offs between short-term team and long-term business needs - and able to gain buy-in from multiple stakeholders on those trade-offs.
12. You’re passionate about recruiting and developing great engineering talent
13. Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively and work together across engineering to maximise inner-sourcing opportunities and reduce waste

Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham offices.
We’ve adopted a flexible hybrid working model - one that creates the opportunity to work in your own way, but also provides great spaces for in-person collaboration.
We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our offices 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
