We're looking for an enthusiastic Learning Disability Nurse to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Ellesmere Port and Chester. This role is ideal for a Band 5 nurse seeking progression or an experienced Band 6 nurse passionate about supporting young people with learning disabilities.
You will:
1. Provide specialised support to children with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
2. Deliver group training for parents, caregivers, and professionals.
3. Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team for person-centered care.
4. Receive tailored training to lead parent and professional sessions confidently.

What We're Looking For
1. A registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD).
2. Passion for working with children and adolescents.
3. Strong communication and organisational skills.
4. Experience or willingness to deliver training with our support.
Your Role at LD CAMHS
As a key team member, you will:
1. Conduct Assessments: Evaluate behaviours of concern for young people (0-18), identify causes, and develop tailored intervention plans.
2. Design Person-Centred Interventions: Create and implement plans that meet individual needs, improving quality of life.
3. Apply Positive Behaviour Support (PBS): Use PBS principles to assist families effectively. Training will be provided if needed.
4. Facilitate Training: Deliver practical sessions for parents, caregivers, and professionals, with full preparation and support.
5. Collaborate with Experts: Work with Learning Disability Nurses, Clinical Support Workers, Psychologists, and a Psychiatrist to provide holistic care.

Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
1. Learning Disability and child related policy.
2. Current best practice in learning disability nursing.
3. Safeguarding children.
4. NHS policy/practice, e.g. health improvement/public health agenda.
5. Ability to assess/plan/evaluate care to clients and parents or carers.
6. Ability to participate in and develop nursing practice.
7. Support clients in crisis.
8. Excellent record keeping.
9. Ability to chair meetings and lead a team meeting.
10. Deliver training to other professionals and services.
Experience
Essential
1. Experience of working with children with Severe Learning Disabilities and challenging behaviour and or mental health problems and their families/ carers.
2. Experience in working in a behavioural service, experience of a positive behaviour support model.
3. Delivering training/parenting courses and presentations.
4. Multi-agency/ professional working.
5. Clinical supervision of staff.
6. Positive attitude to young people with Learning Disabilities.
7. Awareness of relevant legislation and good practice relating to young people with Learning Disabilities (Valuing People).
8. Appreciation of governance.
Desirable
1. Participation in service developments.
2. Experience in delivery of quality initiatives.
3. Experience of working in CAMHS.
