The Role
The Clinical Trials Nurse will provide support for local Principal Investigators who are carrying out Clinical Trials within NHS Lanarkshire, facilitating recruitment into those Clinical Trials, managing clinical trial data and maintaining adherence to the Clinical Trials Protocols. You will carry out this role under the supervision of the Clinical Trials Practitioner and/or the Principal Investigator.
You will assist the Clinical Trials Practitioner to maintain a balanced trials portfolio of studies in one or more conditions. You may take on the role of study co-ordinator for one or more studies if agreed with the Principal Investigator and Lead Clinical Trials Nurse.

What we'll need you to bring
1. Registered Nurse with NMC
2. Be prepared to study-specific training for every Clinical Trial in which they are involved; this may be provided by the Study Sponsor through study start-up meetings, and must ensure that any such training is recorded in their own training records, and is recorded in the appropriate log within the Study Site File
3. Be prepared to undertake ICH-Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training. This must be provided through a training organisation recognised by NHS Lanarkshire’s R&D Department. ICH-GCP training requirements are: an initial full day course followed by a minimum half day, biennial update (or online equivalent)
4. Evidence of continued professional development
5. Full and valid driving licence
6. High standard of communication skills
7. Ability to understand the application of Research Governance
8. Ability to work as part of a team
9. Excellent organisational skills
10. Ability to prioritise and time manage
11. Be computer literate
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also
12. Educated to degree level
13. Experience in primary care sites
14. Knowledge/aware of GCP guidelines and EU directive for clinical trials
15. Knowledge of research governance
16. Willing to expand skills required for clinical trials e.g. phlebotomy, IV drug therapy, recording ECGs

This role will be based in Research and Development within University Hospital Hairmyres
