About the role
Working within your own geographic area, the Business Development Manager will drive sales growth of the company's Modular product range by identifying new business opportunities and building strong relationships with clients in the Merchant, Fenestration and Distribution (MFD) routes to market. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong sales background, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of the rooflight industry. This is a full-time external role.

Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers, partners, and distributors.
* Network at industry events, conferences and meetings to identify new opportunities.
* Identify and qualify leads through various channels including networking, referrals and online research.
* Use CRM and the company's other systems to track and manage the sales and ordering process.
* Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals tailored to customer needs.
* Work with customers at customer events such as 'Trade Days' etc.
* Negotiate pricing and terms to secure profitable customer relationships.
* Work closely with other areas of the business such as Marketing, Product Development and Customer Service teams to align strategies and initiatives.
* Provide feedback to Product Development based on market research and customer input.
* Track business development activities and measure performance against goals and objectives.
* Prepare regular reports for senior management on progress, challenges and opportunities.
* Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention by maintaining ongoing communication and support.
* Address any customer concerns or issues promptly.
* Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies and competitor products.
* Ensure a detailed and time-efficient journey plan to maximize customer interaction and number of targeted daily and weekly calls ensuring agreed call rates are always upheld.
What you will need
Required criteria
* Willing and able to travel with monthly overnight stays required.
* Cold calling is a large part of this role.
* Capable of planning and prioritizing work whilst meeting deadlines.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
* Interpersonal skills.
* Excellent communication and phone technique, persuasiveness, patience, persistence, and keyboarding skills are needed.
* Must be results-oriented and self-motivated.
* Able to work both independently and within a team environment.
* Good IT skills.
* Full UK driving license (maximum three points).
* Must reside within territory.
Desired criteria
* Knowledge of construction products and the merchant industry (specifically rooflights).
* Knowledge of roofing systems to include all flat roofing technologies.
* Working knowledge and understanding of building regulations.
* Experience and understanding of various Microsoft software systems such as Dynamics and PowerBI.
