Experienced Performance & Emissions Test and Development Engineer required for a 12 month + contract opportunity.
Our Client is recognised as a leading manufacturer of industrial diesel engines with OEM Manufacturers and users on every continent.
Based within the Product Engineering Development department at the Stafford facility, this vacancy is initially a 12-month contract. The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and delivering engineering activity as part of the diesel product development activity. This role involves engine performance calibration, analysing data and trends, root cause corrective action and validation of corrective actions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Diesel Engine Performance and Emissions calibration
2. Mechanical verification and validation of engine components and systems
3. Defining and managing component validation plans
4. Coordination of day-to-day engineering activity and management of test and analysis activity
5. Failure analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods
6. Technical reporting
7. Conducting all work to Perkins operating procedures and local work methods in order to meet compliance with quality standards.
8. Support to the design function is required through FMEA attendance.
9. The role will require collaboration with all platform teams based at the Stafford facility.
10. Working closely with global Caterpillar facilities.
11. Occasional overseas travel may be necessary as required by business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential:
1. Engineering Degree or other equivalent qualification/experience
2. Experienced in engine Performance and Emissions calibration, data analysis and reporting
3. Knowledge of emissions measurement techniques, worldwide emission regulations and emissions measurement hardware.
4. Knowledge of control system development, fuel system optimisation and turbocharger matching.
5. PC literacy, excellent use of all MS Office components
6. High standard of written technical reporting
7. Knowledge of industrial diesel engine systems such as cooling, lubrication, air systems, etc.
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of Perkins Products and processes
2. Experience in using CANAPE
3. Experience in using Osiris high speed data capture
