Managing Consultant – Process Safety The successful candidate will be supporting or leading (depending on experience) the on-going process safety studies related to oil & gas and chemical processes. Their hands-on experience will be utilised in reviewing and developing proof testing procedures for Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) as part of the Operation and Maintenance phase of the safety lifecycle. In addition to these core activities they will carry out HAZOP and SIL Determination studies and the documenting and performing of random hardware reliability calculations; SIL Verification. They will be expected as a consultant to have the communication skills required to aid in business development activities and also be capable of producing safety-critical reports. Primary responsibilities Supporting / Leading Process Hazards Identification (PHA, HAZOP, HAZID, etc) Hazardous scenarios identification and screening Supporting / Leading SIL Determination / LOPA Performing and documenting SIL verification studies Performing and documenting reliability calculations using techniques such as Reliability Block Diagram or Fault Tree Analysis Frequency estimation of loss of containment of hazardous materials Consequence analysis and modelling for the process hazards Safety risk assessment for onsite personnel and third parties Risk mitigation and cost benefit analysis Building risk assessment Hazardous area classification Non process related hazards analysis (including dropped object, ship collision, etc.) Providing quotations for consultancy services and engaging in business development activities Reviewing and developing proof testing procedures for SIFs and safety-critical trip functions Supporting / Leading HAZOP/LOPA and SIL determination studies Performing and documenting reliability calculations Producing safety-critical reports to Engineering Manager Providing quotations for consultancy services and engaging in business development activities. Coordinate and deliver training courses Chair workshops Experience Required Minimum 5 years’ experience in an engineering position, with site experience Experience in and managing IEC 61508 / 61511 standards Experience in using software tools such as Isograph, DNV PHAST & Safeti, etc. Experience in onshore and offshore safety studies Engineering honours degree (Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical) Familiar with HAZOP and LOPA techniques.
