Salary: Grade 6, £28,624 - £31,586 per annum (pro rata based on 37 hours per week.)
Positions Available:
1. 1 Position x 37 hours per week
2. 1 Position x 25.5 hours per week
3. 1 Position x 18.5 hours per week (Temporary until 4th February 2026)
4. 1 Position x 37 hours per week (Temporary until November 2025)
Your role:
You will be joining a busy child-focused children’s social care family time team. You will be responsible for supervising family time with children who are looked after by the local authority and their birth parents/extended families. You will be an excellent communicator with strong written skills. You will support the transportation of children to and from their family time sessions and will need to have or be willing to learn the skills to deal with challenging behaviour from both children and adults. You are required to work within the hours of 7am to 7pm.
About you:
You will hold a relevant essential qualification as stated in the job summary and be flexible in your approach to work. Ideally, you will have experience of working with children and families in need of help and support, particularly in challenging situations. You must be able to travel borough-wide and beyond to fulfil your role. You will display and promote the council's Team Wigan behaviours, be an excellent communicator, efficient in time management, and a strong team player.
