Job Description
The construction supervisor is responsible and accountable for an area of the project or a system. They are to drive all MEPH installation works onsite and assist the construction manager as and where required to ensure the works are completed on time in line with the program of works and to the required budget. They will report directly into the Construction Manager.
Your Responsibilities will include:
* Subcontractors working.
* Assist the construction manager with material procurement.
* Responsible for the program of works within their area or on their system and will need to collaborate with the team to ensure all updates inclusive of progress and constraints are captured.
* Feed into the construction manager providing daily progress updates and present their progress to the site’s senior management weekly and/or as deemed required.
* Responsible for the health and safety of all JEG operatives and those 3rd party operatives whom may be affected by our works.
* Maintain a strong site presence while allocating time to carry out administrative tasks such as record keeping and material procurement.
* Lead from the front, following the JEG company standards and ensuring compliance at all times.
* Present well at all times and communicate clearly and effectively.
* Know and understand the project scope of works including the whole MEP package.
* Understand project specifications, subcontract works packages, and procurement schedules.
* Contribute to material take-off for their area and/or system, and advise construction managers of any additional material required.
* Ensure materials are ordered/called into site on a just in time basis and arrange deliveries with the logistics managers.
* Oversee the goods receipting process and ensure completion by the logistics manager.
* Responsible for all installation works and quality of their system or area, working closely with the quality team to close out punch items raised.
* Contribute to W0, W1, and W2 handover packs as directed by the quality team and/or construction manager.
* Assist the construction manager with required labour levels, raising additional labour needs as necessary.
* Contribute to progress captures as deemed required, typically weekly.
* Understand and assist the construction manager in feeding into the master program.
* Complete and issue daily diaries and constraint reporting via the shape protocol.
* Contribute to early warning notices (EWN) and understand the commercials for their area of works.
* Contribute to commercial discussions and provide required information where necessary.
* Contribute to variations, issuing breakdowns of labour and material requirements to the commercial team.
* Contribute to requests for information (RFI) and design completion, including any buildability reviews required.
* Know and understand the technical submittal register and contribute to technical submittals and return comments on received technical submittals.
* Responsible for issuing red line drawings and contributing to As built drawings as required.
* Contribute to the issue of out of hours permits to designated persons identified by the main contractor.
* Lead all internal daily activity briefings and attend all daily briefings by the main contractor or client.
* Responsible for safety of all JEG operatives and 3rd party operatives impacted by JEG works.
* Contribute to the issue of risk and method statements by the supply chain and for in-house or agency labour.
* Arrange inductions and collect operatives following induction.
* Arrange PPE for all inducted operatives where applicable and ensure items are signed for.
* Ensure all operatives are signed onto applicable risk and method statements and that witnessed briefings are conducted.
* Issue holiday notes while on annual leave or rotations.
* Attend all client requested meetings and internal meetings.
* Contribute to all required commissioning activities including attendance to daily commissioning meetings where deemed necessary.
* Co-ordinate their works with all relevant internal and external parties.
* Log and monitor labour volumes from in-house and supply chain operatives.
* Attend internal and external logistics meetings alongside the logistics manager to ensure co-ordination with relevant departments of the project.
This role will provide exposure to a wide range of expertise relating to the engineering, project management and construction sector. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge and skills on a pathway to progressing their career with Jones Engineering and becoming a Chartered Engineer as their knowledge and responsibilities grow and evolve.
Skills and Requirements
* Electrical trade background would be advantageous.
* Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role is essential.
* Experience of managing Electrical projects a distinct advantage.
* Excellent delegation and organisational skills.
* Ability to lead and mentor a cross-functional team essential.
* Ability to work and collaborate with the wider project team essential.
* Strong communications skills, both written and oral required.
