As a Process Technologist with Avondale Foods, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising the production processes of a wide variety of complex food products. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Process Technologist to join our team. This individual will play a key role in inputting and managing factory processes for live products, updating recipes, ensuring alignment with AX, and working closely with various teams on trials, feasibility studies and product handovers. This position requires a deep understanding of product formulations, batch processes, and system integration, with a focus on maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in both AX and Point 74 systems. Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Process Technologist to join our team. This individual will play a key role in inputting and managing factory processes for live products, updating recipes, ensuring alignment with AX, and working closely with various teams on trials, feasibility studies and product handovers. This position requires a deep understanding of product formulations, batch processes, and system integration, with a focus on maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in both AX and Point 74 systems. Key Responsibilities: Recipe Input & Maintenance: o - Input factory processes into recipes, including detailed stages such as dry ingredients, pre-mixes, batch sizes, yields, and other relevant factors. o - Manage and maintain live product recipes, ensuring all ingredients, processes, and specifications are up-to-date. o - Regularly update live recipes with new raw materials (RM) when a new AX code is introduced. o - Update packaging information (case count, film specifications) for live products if the Bill of Materials (BOM) remains unchanged. o Modify product descriptions and formula details to reflect accurate and up-to-date information in AX. Product Lifecycle Management: o - Delist and relist products as required in AX, ensuring seamless transitions and updates in production and product status. o - Cross-check recipes between AX and Point 74 to ensure consistency and accuracy before moving products to "Live" status upon launch. o Ensure all product information aligns with both internal systems and external regulatory requirements. Collaboration & Coordination: o - Serve as the key representative in cross-functional teams, leading trials, feasibility discussions, and project handovers. o Work closely with production, NPD, quality, and other departments to ensure smooth process transitions and that new products meet required specifications and standards. o Process Improvement & Documentation: o - Continuously assess and improve factory processes to enhance efficiency and product quality. o - Maintain thorough and accurate documentation for all live products, including recipes, batch records, and process parameters. o Ensure all recipes and processes are compliant with company standards and regulatory guidelines. o -Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times. o - Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration do the right thing approach in all interactions. System Management: o - Ensure timely and accurate updates in AX for all live products, including ingredient substitutions, batch sizes, packaging specifications, and yield data. o - Support the continuous improvement of systems and processes used in recipe management and product tracking. Essential Criteria Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science or a related field Minimum of 2 years of experience in process technology, product formulation or related manufacturing role in a food or beverage industry Experience in managing complex recipes, BOMs, and product formulations Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite of applications Self-motivated, results-oriented and able to work independently with strong time management skills Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead trials and feasibility discussions Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Skilled listener with excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills Desirable Criteria In-depth understanding of production processes, batch processing, ingredient functionality, and recipe management. Familiarity with AX and/or Point 74 systems Proficient in data management and system integration, particularly with AX and related software tools Collaborative and able to work cross-functionally with different departmentsDemonstrable skills relating to attention to detail and working to tight deadlines A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimization.
