Position Overview:
VCAD is looking for a proactive and dedicated Health and Wellbeing Manager. The successful candidate will be based at our main campus at London Harbour Exchange – South Quay. The Health and Wellbeing Manager will play a key part in providing exceptional support services in all student matters linked to Health, Disability, Learning Differences, Wellbeing, Safeguarding, Harassment and Bullying. This role is integral to creating a supportive, inclusive environment where students feel connected, empowered and equipped to succeed at VCAD.
In collaboration with the Head of Student Experience and Outcome, the role holder will ensure our student services continually evolve to meet student needs and maintain the highest standards of care and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
* To lead, manage and develop the Student Health and Wellbeing Service to ensure an accessible, high quality, professional delivery of emotional and mental health support for students.
* To provide specialist insight on student Mental Health, Disability and Wellbeing to the development of College’s strategies and plans, projects, committees and working groups.
* To create, maintain and review systems and processes to ensure effective delivery of the Student Health and Wellbeing Service and to be able to produce reports that demonstrate the impact of these interventions.
* To be the clinical lead for the service, managing caseload as well as ensuring compliance with relevant ethical frameworks and regulatory standards.
* To take the lead in coordinating the College’s response to complex student welfare cases and during critical incidents ensure that students receive appropriate support.
* To establish and develop networks external to our university, agreeing referral mechanisms with partners to ensure students are appropriately supported.
* To lead on the delivery of wellbeing/health promotion and wellbeing strategy at VCAD.
* To work in accordance with and promote university policies and practices, particularly those related to equality and diversity.
* Provide support for any other associated duties as requested by the Head of Student Experience and Outcome or the Directors of VCAD.
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in psychology or equivalent qualification in related subjects.
* Proven experience of effective team management and team development.
* Experience, or knowledge, of working in Higher Education with a strong understanding of current student mental health and wellbeing issues.
* Good understanding of the range of external specialist agencies and online resources to which students can be referred to and experience of working closely with primary and secondary care mental health services in the NHS.
* Proven experience of planning, developing and implementing effective systems, processes and procedures to deliver an excellent client focused service.
* Strong experience of working with people struggling with their mental health including experience in crisis intervention and of managing client risk.
* Understanding of the importance of client confidentiality and data protection requirements.
* Sensitivity and empathy with students, colleagues and staff.
* Able to deal with confidential matters, highly sensitive data and act with discretion.
* Experience in risk assessments and crisis management.
* Commitment to upholding the values and policies of VCAD and partner universities.
