A highly reputable secondary school in Darwen is seeking an ambitious, passionate, and innovative Director of Learning – Science to join their dedicated staff team from April 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and driven professional to lead a thriving science department and make a meaningful impact on the academic success of students.
The Role:
* Provide strategic leadership and management of the science faculty, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement.
* Inspire, motivate, and develop a team of committed teachers to deliver an engaging and challenging science curriculum.
* Develop and implement innovative teaching practices that enhance student engagement and academic progress.
* Monitor and evaluate student outcomes to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous progress.
* Foster a culture of high expectations and a passion for learning across the science department.
* Lead the development of schemes of work and assessment practices to ensure high-quality provision for all learners.
Requirements:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in science teaching at Key Stages 3, 4, and preferably Key Stage 5.
* Have a proven track record of improving student outcomes and driving departmental success.
* Demonstrate excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
* Be passionate about science education and committed to raising standards.
* Possess the ability to inspire and develop both staff and students.
* Have a strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and data analysis.
* Be able to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports all learners.
