We are looking for a proactive Recycling and Waste Minimisation Officer to support this transition and drive community engagement. In this role, you will: Develop and manage community engagement campaigns to increase recycling rates and minimise waste. Lead outreach efforts with residents, community groups, and schools to improve public understanding of recycling practices. Design and implement waste education initiatives, ensuring residents are fully informed about changes to waste collection services. Manage digital engagement, including the Council’s website and sustainability hub, to provide clear and accessible waste management information. Monitor and evaluate campaign effectiveness, providing data-driven recommendations for ongoing improvement. Manage a team of Recycling Support Officers Why This Role is Important This role is essential to: Ensure public awareness and compliance with the new waste collection system. Reduce contamination and improve recycling rates, supporting the Council’s environmental goals. Minimise reputational risk by proactively addressing community concerns and ensuring smooth implementation. Essential Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: A HNC in Wastes Management or equivalent. Experience in waste management, recycling, or environmental education. Proven ability to design and deliver public engagement campaigns. Excellent communication skills to engage diverse audiences, from residents to schools and businesses. Digital engagement experience, including website content management and sustainability-related communications. Strong data analysis skills to measure and report on campaign effectiveness.
