The Role
Currently, the Turing is moving towards a challenge-led model with three Grand Challenges (Environment & Sustainability, Health, Defence & National Security). This will be supported by a cross-cutting Fundamental Research in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence priority area.
We have established strategic partnerships with a broad range of data science and AI users including Lloyd’s Register Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Accenture, the UK Government Defence and Security, The National Air Traffic Service, Singapore Defence & Security Organisation, and Roche. We have also developed many project collaborations with businesses, government departments, and charities.
We are now looking to focus our efforts to ensure we can attract the right partners to maximise successes and impact across our strategic priorities, including our Grand Challenges.
Your Profile
This is a new and exciting role for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will lead and support a team of partnership development professionals focused on achieving ambitious partnership development at scale & revenue generation, including through establishing new and impactful strategic partnerships, developing collaborative grant proposals & bids, and with potential to further develop commercial engagement opportunities. The postholder will report to the Director of Partnerships, who is also a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) of the Institute.
The successful candidate will have solid experience of proactive revenue generation at the seven-figure level and ideally above, and proven acumen for driving partnership development team performance in a fast-evolving context.
They will be a resilient, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual, with demonstrable leadership qualities, and creativity to deliver high-quality results.
Main Duties:
1. Lead on the development of new partnerships, in line with the Institute’s strategy, and aligned with its strategic priorities, including Grand Challenges and Missions.
2. Take overall responsibility for the partnership strategy and corresponding partner engagement plan.
3. Lead a team of partnership development professionals, setting ambitious goals, being responsible for objectives setting, performance management, and mentoring.
4. Drive further development and delivery of the Institute’s existing partnerships, and in particular Strategic Partnership(s), working closely with Science and Innovation (S&I) directors, and other relevant Turing teams and functions.
5. Take responsibility for the Institute’s Strategic Partners Board (SPB) which provides strategic advice to the Turing ELT.
6. Ensure all partnerships comply with Institute policies and regulations. Please see our portal for a full breakdown of the role.

1. Proven experience of securing ambitious strategic partnerships, with a strong track record of proactive revenue generation at the seven-figure level and ideally above.
2. Well-developed commercial acumen and experience of managing partnerships’ team budgets effectively.
3. Track record of successful leadership and management, including implementing an assertive performance culture.
4. Track record of successful contractual negotiation, in a science and/or innovation context, including an excellent grasp of intellectual property, and understanding of issues related to open-source software and practices.

Terms and Conditions
The post is offered on a permanent basis, either part-time (minimum 0.6 FTE) or full-time. The annual salary is £75,732 including the excellent Turing benefits.
The Institute is headquartered in Kings Cross, London and so while we operate a hybrid working model you will be expected to spend time there each month to connect to your peer group and to work with teams across the Institute.
