Job role: Payroll Officer Report to: Head of Finance Location: Blackpool Salary: £25,000 (negotiable depending on experience and qualifications) Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to manage the end-to-end processing of payroll within the residential childcare sector. As we bring our payroll in-house from an external provider, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting this transition and will assist the Head of Finance with various financial tasks as needed. Key Responsibilities: • End-to-End Payroll Processing: Process monthly payroll accurately and on time for all employees including calculation of SMP, OMP, SSP, OSP and other payments. • System Management: Xero, Employment Hero, Microsoft Office etc. • HMRC Submissions: Handle all payroll-related submissions, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions. • Pension Administration: Ensure pension contributions are correctly processed and in line with regulations. • Data Accuracy & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date payroll records, ensuring compliance with employment laws and tax regulations. • Payroll Transition Support: Assist in bringing payroll processing in-house, working closely with internal teams and external providers. • Employee Queries: Respond to payroll-related queries from employees, providing clear and accurate information. • Finance Support: Assist the Head of Finance with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and other financial tasks as needed. What We’re Looking For: • Payroll qualification (e.g., CIPP or equivalent) is required. • Proven experience in a payroll position, with end-to-end processing expertise. • Familiarity with Xero and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, pensions, and auto-enrolment. • High level of accuracy in data processing and record-keeping. • Ability to liaise effectively with employees and senior management. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve payroll-related issues efficiently.
