The role: Reporting to the First Line Manager in the Department, the role of a Mechanical Technician is a multi-skilled position. The main purpose of this position is to carry out planned and reactive maintenance in support of a high-speed packaging line, production, or utilities areas. The role is vital for the efficiency, quality, and cost of the plant. A Mechanical Technician will look to improve the reliability and safety of the plant and production processes. This job description and the job title, Mechanical Technician, are not necessarily descriptive of all duties and do not restrict flexibility. You may be required, from time to time, to carry out tasks in addition to or instead of your normal duties, either for the brewery or for AB InBev, provided that they are reasonable and within your capabilities. Duties & Responsibilities: Perform planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on high-speed packaging lines, including fault diagnosis and repairs. Drive and support continuous improvement (CI) activities to enhance equipment performance and reliability. Develop, review, and update SOPs, maintenance procedures, and safety work instructions (SWIs). Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and maintenance standards. Liaise with OEM suppliers for spare parts, technical support, and services. Record maintenance activities and performance data using SAP and other plant optimization tools. Prioritize and plan maintenance tasks, including project work and critical spare identification. Share best practices and technical knowledge across shifts to foster a high-performance, flexible culture. Control maintenance tools, inventory, and equipment while monitoring related costs. Work safely, including at heights, in confined spaces, and as a lone worker, following all company policies. Who we’re looking for: Time-served engineer with a recognised apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent mechanical/industrial qualification; ONC required, HNC desirable. Proven experience in a multi-disciplined industrial engineering function, ideally within an FMCG environment. Proactive and self-managed with a strong “can-do” attitude and pride in delivering high-quality work. Effective communicator who works well both independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement (CI), HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards. Familiarity with Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLCs is desirable for troubleshooting and automation support. Capable of prioritising tasks, making decisions, and managing workload effectively under pressure. Committed to supporting VPO compliance, sustainability initiatives, and a high-performance culture. IT literate, with the ability to analyse data and support structured problem-solving. Supports a learning organisation, demonstrating adaptability, initiative, and a commitment to personal and team development. Why build your career with us We recruit for mindset, ambition, cultural fit, and growth opportunities. UNIQUE CULTURE We are proud to be part of something bigger than ourselves and are passionate about building upon our company’s long legacy.
