Job overview
The post will be based at PRUH & South Sites, including the Princess Royal University Hospital and the hospitals that make up the South Sites (Orpington Hospital and Queen Mary Hospital).
The post holder will be part of a team providing anaesthetic support to the resident on-call rotas in addition to daytime elective work. The on-call rotas rotate every 3 months between general and obstetric anaesthetics, currently comprising 10 anaesthetists.
All employees are expected to undertake work on any of the Trust’s sites as required by the service. You will work in close cooperation with clinical, medical professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide a service for patients, including all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the Care Group.
2. Shared responsibility for providing 24/7 cover for the Unit on a rota basis.
3. Participate in Multi-disciplinary Meetings.
4. Contribute to audit and clinical governance programmes.
5. Responsible for outpatient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Care Group management team.
6. Contribute to the Care Group research interests in accordance with the Trust’s R&D framework.
7. Work with clinical and other professional colleagues to ensure staff productivity and job satisfaction.
8. Comply with all Trust infection prevention and control policies.
9. Prepare for and undertake protective interventions consistent with evidence-based practice and maintaining patient safety.

Person specification
Qualifications & Registrations
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Evidence of excellence in training.
* Wide experience within Anaesthesia.
* Evidence of career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
* Demonstrable research/teaching or audit experience.
