What skills and experience we're looking for
Viking Academy Trust is a forward-thinking and dynamic multi-academy trust dedicated to creating safe, inspiring, and sustainable learning environments across our family of schools. We are now looking for a proactive and highly organised Estates Manager to join our team and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the facilities that support our pupils, staff, and wider community.
As Estates Manager, you will take the lead in managing and overseeing maintenance, health, safety, and development of our school sites. You will ensure compliance with statutory obligations, manage key contracts, and oversee large-scale procurement projects. In this important role, you will also supervise the Viking premises team, liaise with external contractors, and ensure the Trust’s estates are efficiently managed, safe, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities
• Compliance and Safety: Oversee legal and operational compliance, ensuring the Trust’s estates meet all statutory obligations, health and safety regulations, and due diligence procedures.
• Contract and Procurement Management: Assist the CFO with procurement for services and contractors, including obtaining quotations, presenting them to the Finance Team, and ensuring compliance with the Trust’s Finance Policy.
• Project Management: Manage key estates-related projects such as CIF, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met, from start to completion.
• Team Leadership: Line manage the Viking premises team to ensure service excellence, encouraging a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Service Monitoring and Contractor Management: Engage in regular service monitoring and liaise with contractors to ensure best value for the Trust and high-quality service delivery.
• Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain up-to-date records on contracts, statutory compliance, insurance renewals, and training logs, ensuring the Trust meets all regulatory requirements.
What We’re Looking For
• A proactive and motivated individual with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A strong communicator with the ability to manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, senior leadership and our Board of Trustees.
• Experience in project management, contract management, and procurement, with a focus on service delivery and value for money.
• A willingness to obtain or already hold IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• A valid driving licence and a flexible approach to working hours.
• A natural ability to inspire and motivate a team to deliver exceptional service.
• Experience with tendering processes and stakeholder management.
