We are working with a growing business in Brentwood Essex, who provide laundry servicing to businesses in the London and Essex area. Due to continued growth our client is looking for a new General Manager to join the team.
The General Manager will organise and oversee the entire operation of this commercial laundry and linen hire business based in Brentwood from start to finish. You will work alongside another manager to ensure the overall efficiency of the business. The role:
1. Responsible for the smooth running of all orders received, processed, and dispatched.
2. Work to the production manual regarding the daily orders, adapting and adjusting as required.
3. Ensure an efficient and productive order process that meets client's requirements.
4. Daily management of up to 20 staff over 3 shifts, including onboarding, organising workflow, setting KPIs, and performance reviews.
5. Make on-the-spot decisions and solve problems that arise on a daily basis.
6. Determine the number of resources required daily for staff & driver rosters according to the customer orders scheduled or expected.
7. Plan, coordinate, and monitor all laundry production processes.
8. Assist with deliveries and production as required.
9. Ensure inventory is consistent with requirements.
10. Ensure Health & Safety records are meticulously maintained, and all staff are provided with the necessary training and information.
11. Ensure maintenance of machinery and facilities.
12. Purchase equipment and consumables as required.
13. Conduct regular quality checks and identify areas for improvement within the production process.
14. Manage customer complaints and resolve effectively.
What's required:
1. Previous experience in a management/supervisory role.
2. Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy weights.
3. Must be able to work to tight deadlines/schedules whilst maintaining an elevated level of quality control.
4. Must have good communication skills, be a good problem solver with excellent management skills.
5. Approachable and flexible with a hands-on approach to work.
6. Previous experience gained within a production environment would be ideal.
What's on offer:
1. A salary circa £32,500 increasing to £35,000 following a 3-month probation period.
2. Annual performance-based Bonus scheme.
3. 40 hours per week Sunday to Thursday with extra hours paid on Fridays as required - A level of flexibility is required depending on seasonal work levels.
