Main duties of the job
The Ward Clerk will be responsible for providing a range of clerical support for Ward 3E, 10E, Short stay ward 3D and Day Surgery.
Responsibilities
1. Patient and Administrative Support
Manage patient records, including:
1. Inputting patient details into computer systems
2. Tracking health records
3. Booking follow-up appointments
4. Assisting with patient transport arrangements
2. Maintain accurate and confidential patient information
3. Book and manage patient admissions and discharges
4. Handle telephone communications and messages professionally
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Demonstrate an approachable and helpful care style. Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. Manage communication barriers constructively. Maintain patient confidentiality as per legislation and Trust policy.
Operational Efficiency
Organise and prioritise workloads. Ensure timely delivery of patient records and documents. Maintain department stock levels. Support ward staff with administrative tasks. Track and report on real-time bed availability.
Professional Development
Participate in Trust appraisal system. Undertake identified learning and development opportunities. Assist in training new or temporary staff. Attend ward meetings as required.
