This dynamic role calls for an experienced leader to oversee and develop the transport and logistics functions at the Delta Group. As the Head of Transport and Logistics, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence and ensuring the seamless delivery of goods and services. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, guide a dedicated logistics team, and lead initiatives aimed at sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and exceptional customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities / deliverables Overall responsibility for the management of warehouse, logistics, shipping and transport operations Developing the Transport & Logistics strategy in line with the Groups business objectives Contract management and commercial rate negotiations with 3 rd party transport suppliers Driving continuous improvement in transportation operations, with a focus on monitoring performance and health & safety for operational excellence. Identifying opportunities for process improvement and costs efficiencies Exploring and utilising technology to optimise systems & processes to improve efficiency and service levels Management of department budgets, including direct, indirect and 3 rd party supplier costs Ensure efficient use of resources, materials, and equipment aligned with budgetary targets, optimising key transport KPIs while overseeing workflow, manpower, and space forecasting for logistics. Partner with the board, production, operations and client services teams to streamline supply chain management and enhance client satisfaction. Build a culture of collaboration across the Transport, Shipping & Logistics team working with other key stakeholders and departments to ensure the most effective & efficient service for our clients Coordinate with clients and suppliers to maintain smooth operations, monitoring quality control, delivery schedules, and transport costs. Provide strong leadership and mentorship to Transport team managers, setting a high standard for service delivery and fostering a culture of collaboration and ‘Excellence Always’ Working with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to achieve successfully integrated projects and processes. Managing internal and external stakeholder relationships including conflicting needs, demands and priorities Recruiting, managing & developing the logistics team to deliver consistently and support business requirements Identifying and mitigating risks, responding to unforeseen circumstances and managing contingency plans when issues arise Conducting team meetings, briefings, performance reviews & setting objectives to drive team performance. Knowledge, Skills and Experience We are looking for a natural leader to propel Delta’s Transport & Logistics team forward with vision and strategy. Proven track record in a senior or leadership role with experience in logistics planning and fostering sustainable cross-functional relationships to meet strategic transport objectives. Ability to analyse data and trends to make informed decisions Skilled in managing, motivating and developing teams to perform at high standards. Hands-on management style to guide delivery, enhance performance, and nurture a collaborative team environment. Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, remaining composed when faced with conflict or unforeseen challenges. Demonstrable experience in logistics planning, budgeting, and achieving targets with a commercial and innovative mindset. Passionate about building and maintaining trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders, and suppliers.
