Serco are recruiting for a Change Communications Manager to join our Defence team. This vital role will lead our contract communications to develop and deliver contract-wide internal (change) communications within the business and facilitate external media management. This role will lead the communications relationship with the client and create and manage the delivery of communications whilst owning and managing relationships with the client’s senior communications team.
The post holder will work closely with Serco Group media relations, internal communications and other senior managers as required, creating content for and managing stakeholders up to CEO level.

Main responsibilities of the role:
* Lead internal communication for the contract by defining and agreeing communications priorities, putting in place appropriate communications channels and delivering against an agreed schedule.
* Proactively provide communications consultancy/advice to colleagues, operational staff, sub-contractors, and the client as required. Provide guidance and statements in response to issues where necessary.
* Create content and briefing materials for senior stakeholders in Serco.
* Own and manage communications risks and issues associated with the contract, engaging a range of stakeholders to mitigate as necessary.
* Liaise with internal teams, team members and subcontractors, facilitating media management support from Serco’s media relations team where needed.
* Identify key communications issues, updates and engagement opportunities for staff and communicate them in a relevant, sensitive, and timely way.
* Build and maintain positive client relationships with internal and external clients at Senior Management level or Heads of Service/department).
* Be a main point of contact for Change communication ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of the high level and product-specific planning, scheduling coordination, and communication of changes.
* Ensuring that key stakeholders are kept informed through the Service and Change lifecycle and that expectations are managed.
* Drive stakeholder engagement.
What you’ll need to do the role:
* Able to achieve SC clearance.
* A degree in a relevant subject, such as English Language, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business or Marketing and/or equivalent experience in a comparable role, which included stakeholder management and supporting senior staff on communications issues for a minimum of five years.
* Good understanding of the media, social media, and political landscape.
* Ability to communicate across a diverse community of stakeholders; good networking and influencing skills.
* Strong knowledge of mobilisations, transitions and transformation and the relevant change implications for people.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, senior stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences using varied methods.
* Ability to work effectively at all levels in the organisation.
* Able to analyse and interpret complex business information.
* Ability to deliver high quality reports and presentations within tight timelines.
* Able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of the markets that Serco operates in, and a deep understanding of the public sector.
* Good MS Office Skills.
