The Vacancy
The role of the Transport Planner is to work directly with the senior planning teams to execute the daily plan effectively.
Within this role, you will be required to work autonomously to achieve your goals with specific attention to customer service, driver liaison and ensuring all deliveries and collections are on time, each & every time.
Main Responsibilities
* Support senior planning team with requested activity, contacting drivers or subcontractors and communicating plans effectively.
* Plan execution and communicate issues to the relevant senior planning team and customer services.
* Debrief drivers to ensure actual times, trailer numbers and demurrage are recorded in line with company processes.
* Booking drivers into relevant systems and customer applications on time and in full.
* Daily planning/scheduling of resource (vehicles and drivers) to match demand on a daily basis.
Skills/Knowledge
Excellent communication skills are essential, and understanding of the transport industry is essential with knowledge of construction-based customers and the requirements for project sites would be a significant advantage.
* Must have knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS) or demonstrate experience and systems knowledge.
* Have worked in a planning function previously undertaking similar duties.
* Ability to interpret and translate facts and information in order to explain situations and issues to people.
* Ability to follow pre-defined steps, methods or approaches but with the ability to modify and adapt when required.
Qualifications
* Equivalent of 5 GCSE grade ‘C’ or above.
* National CPC (Preferred)
* Class 1 Licence (Preferred)
* Customer Service Level 2 or 3 (Preferred)
