Description Senior Health & Safety Advisor. Salary: £45,000 per annum. Location: Remote. Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week. A bit about the role This is an exciting opportunity to join Action for Children as a Health & Safety Advisor. Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety you will have responsibility for health & safety across Action for Children ensuring legal compliance and best practice with relevant legislation and standards, to assist in actively promoting and developing a positive health and safety culture. How you'll help to create brighter futures by Provide specialist advice, expertise, and support to Action for Children's managers and services to support understanding and application of health & safety policy and ensure statutory compliance across the organisation. Carry out accident, incident and near miss investigations. Carry out risk assessments and provide recommendations considering what could go wrong and deciding on suitable control measures to eliminate, reduce or minimise the risks of loss, damage, or injury in the workplace. Conduct site inspections and audits. Assist in development and delivery on health safety training topics and welfare. Support the Head of Health & Safety to proactively assist with the development, implementation, monitoring and review of Health & Safety strategies, policies and procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices. Assist the Head of Health & Safety to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Directors, managers, employees, trade unions, contractors/sub-contractors, partners other stakeholders. Let's talk about you NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health & Safety Management or equivalent. Certified Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CertIOSH) or equivalent. Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation. Good knowledge of fire safety legislation. Good knowledge of food safety and environmental legislation. Demonstrable experience of effectively advising senior managers in health and safety matters. Experience working in or with a children’s or social care organisation as a health and safety professional is essential.
