This is an opportunity to work in the busy but rewarding role of School Support Manager (SSM) at Langholm Academy. You will be expected to work 10.5 hours per week for 39 weeks per year, during term time.
The School Support Manager (SSM) is a key member of the school management team, but crucially, the only member from non-teaching staff. The role of the SSM is to ensure effective and efficient business support functions across the school and to directly manage school support staff. The SSM will assume responsibility for the integrity of data on the school's management information system, ensure human resources policy and procedures are followed, and complete all necessary paperwork.
A key aspect of the role is to assume strategic management of finance including Devolved School Management, Pupil Equity Fund, and Staffing budgets; and to ensure operational arrangements are effectively reported to the Headteacher as appropriate. The SSM will assume responsibility for Health and Safety arrangements in school. The postholder is a key contact for all Council departments and all staff in the schools, both teaching and non-teaching.
The successful applicant will be a problem solver with the ability to multitask and prioritize continually. They will remain calm under pressure and build good relationships supporting others as required whilst ensuring procedures are adhered to, both in staff directly managed and in other staff groups in school. The ability to produce work of a high quality, particularly in relation to financial record keeping and controls, along with extensive administrative experience is essential as is management/supervisory experience.
A current qualification in or knowledge of health & safety legislation is desirable, and the IOSH Managing Safely qualification will be provided. A current driving licence is essential as you will be expected to travel for work purposes.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
