Job summary
This is a great opportunity for trainees who are interested to develop and pursue a subspecialty interest in Glaucoma, and Ophthalmology. This fellowship is designed to be a first step towards a career in Ophthalmology, it aims to support the clinical and surgical knowledge and skills development of the post holder to progress. The successful candidate will benefit from a balanced weekly Rota of four Emergency Eye Clinic and three glaucoma sessions.
Main duties of the job
1. Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Ophthalmology.
2. Share with colleagues the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Ophthalmology Department.
3. Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
4. Participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
5. Attend meetings as appropriate.
6. Partake in the Emergency Eye Clinic.
7. Support the department through the undertaking of refraction.
8. Provision, with Specialty Grade and Trust Doctor colleagues, of a service to the Royal Cornwall Hospitals' NHS Trust, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
