Job description Duties and Responsibilities • Responsible for all wheat breeding trials co-ordinated from the Woolpit site • Organisation of cleaning, treating and sampling seed for drilling • Planning fields, designing trials, arranging trial layouts and drilling trials • Assessment of disease and other agronomic traits (travel within the UK will be required) • Input and validation of all trials data • Co-ordination of trials harvest & drilling activities • Co-ordination of locally contracted official trials through BSPB and ADHB • Supervision of temporary staff as required to complete the major tasks • Maintain knowledge of current best practice in agronomy and field trials • Overtime will be likely during peak periods • Assist in other aspects of the breeding programme as required Skills: what we expect of you HND/HNC or above in Agriculture or a related subject. Previous experience in agriculture/horticulture including certificates PA1, PA2, PA4, PA6 and PA11 would be a distinct advantage. Ability to plan and organise under own initiative, motivate others within a team and have a flexible work approach including outside normal hours. Familiarity with MS Office or similar. A full driving licence is essential.
