If the answer is yes, please proceed on for further details The Opportunity Our client is currently seeking skilled and safety-conscious Laboratory Technician / Experimental Chemist to join a cutting-edge research and development team. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic facility working with small quantities of chemicals such as chlorine, NaOH, KOH, and hydrogen—where precision, responsibility, and high safety standards are key. Remuneration & Benefits You will be entitled to an excellent salary range of £30,000.00 to £32,000 Per Anum, plus many other exciting benefits you will be entitled to Fixed term – 12 months Your duties and responsibilities will be Assembling electrochemical test cells and integrating them into test rigs. Running experimental trials according to structured test plans. Monitoring and recording a wide range of parameters, compiling data in Excel, and generating performance trends and metrics. Preparing clear, concise test reports and presenting findings to senior scientists. Conducting maintenance on lab equipment, including Swagelok systems, and coordinating with engineers or suppliers for parts and repairs. Preparing chemical solutions and performing routine analysis using techniques such as gas chromatography, pH testing, titration, and density measurements. You will have the following qualifications & experience HND in a scientific discipline with at least 5 years’ lab experience or a degree with 1–2 years’ relevant lab work. Proven experience working in a safety-critical lab environment, especially handling hazardous substances like chlorine and caustics. Strong knowledge of COSHH and safe experimental design Hands-on familiarity with electrochemical testing and laboratory-scale equipment. Excellent data handling skills—particularly with Microsoft Excel, including graphing, analysis, and reporting. A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving and process improvement. The setting for the role Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a chemical site. These can include, chemical burns, trips and falls, overexertion, cuts and scrapes, chemical exposure, inhalation of chemicals and confined spaces.
