An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Practitioner role in Vascular Surgery. Vascular Surgery is a complex specialty with typically complex and frail patients. We are looking for a motivated individual to take on the role as a Vascular Practitioner. This will be a role with significant autonomy, but will also require excellent inter-personal skills, independent decision making, and the ability to work within the Multidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities
This is a Specialist Practitioner post which enables the individual to be responsible for aspects of the provision of high-quality Specialist Nursing or Podiatry care mainly in an outpatient capacity and to provide expert advice and support for patients diagnosed with vascular conditions.
The post holder will act as an expert resource for both Nursing and Medical staff by providing advice, support, and education through clinical practice evidence-based development. There will be close liaison and appropriate referral between all relevant departments, the lead Clinician, and other services, including those provided by Community teams.
The post holder will develop and sustain partnership working with individual groups, communities, and agencies. They will also facilitate the planning and delivery of Care programmes to address patient needs and develop/improve the service.
Training will be provided in Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and Torbay Hospital (alongside our 2 Specialist Practitioners on that site). This training will lead to you undertaking the following roles:
1. Independent clinics undertaking comprehensive consultations in vascular patients with claudication, chronic venous insufficiency, and chronic limb threatening ischaemia.
2. Presenting patients at Multidisciplinary meetings.
3. Liaison between primary and secondary care services including general practice, Community Nursing teams, podiatry, lower limb therapy, and other relevant specialties.
4. Breaking bad news and discussions surrounding palliative and end-of-life care planning.
5. Health promotion.
You will also be expected to keep up-to-date with developments in the specialty with the opportunity to attend and present at national vascular conferences. This will be an evolving role and the successful applicant will be able to adjust their role to fit their specialisation and the needs of the unit. Prior experience in a role with independent decision making is essential.
