Fire Safety Manager
Mansfield - NG17
£50,000 p/a
We are currently seeking a Fire Safety Manager to work across a series of hospitals in the Mansfield area. In this role, you will collaborate with the in-house team and external contractors to manage regular maintenance, testing, and internal audits. You will maintain accurate records at all times and produce regular reports to demonstrate the site's performance in fire safety compliance.
The company is willing to provide training in some areas, so if you have knowledge of some of the areas listed below but not all, you are still encouraged to apply.
You will be responsible for all areas of fire safety across the building, including, but not limited to:
1. Fire Alarms
2. Fire Dampers
3. Smoke Dampers
4. Fire Doors
5. Extinguishers
6. Fire Walls
7. Duct Systems
Duties of the role include:
1. Conducting testing and inspection with the in-house engineering team and using specialist subcontractors as needed.
2. Managing compliance, health and safety, and accompanying paperwork.
3. Participating in high-level director meetings with the Estates team and NHS.
4. Managing and reducing hospital energy use, cutting carbon emissions, and reducing waste disposal costs.
5. Providing training and advice to colleagues and recognizing areas for improvement.
6. Serving as the Lead Authorised Person for all aspects of fire (and undergoing AP training if required).
7. Ensuring asset information and PPM schedules are current, in line with HTMs, and reflected within the maintenance program.
8. Completing project work within policies and procedures to ensure costs are controlled and recovered via appropriate lifecycle, reactive maintenance cap, or ERM.
We welcome candidates with experience in fire safety, whether from a compliance background, an electrician working in alarms, or a mechanical engineer working in ducts. As training is provided with the role, we encourage applicants from all backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
1. Ideally electrically qualified (desirable).
2. Able to drive (pool van to travel between hospitals).
3. Experience in a customer-focused environment and working effectively in a collaborative environment.
4. Experience in carrying out compliance audits and risk assessments and maintaining compliance databases and administrative systems.
5. Knowledge of health and safety (compliance, projects, fire, etc.).
6. Experience in hospitals or a similar complex estate is desirable.
