The Radiation Support Service, a component of the Clinical Support Services Division, offers expertise on the administration and use of ionising and non-ionising radiation across the Trust.
The team acts as an intermediary between external physics support contractors and is accountable for overseeing radiation governance.
We offer scientific clinical support to patient services and perform quality assurance audits and processes to guarantee the safety of workers and patients regarding radiation use in diagnostic and therapeutic radiation services.
We endeavour to ensure adherence to radiation-related legislative requirements and to provide onsite support to people and patients, offering advice on ionising radiation protection and the risks associated with non-ionising radiation hazards.

Deputy Radiation Safety/QA Lead has budget and line management responsibility for the RSS team and oversees radiation support service. They set goals, manage everyday operations, and create a positive work environment. They provide expert radiation safety advice, training, and direction.
Work with internal health and safety specialists, manage ionising and non-ionizing radiation safety protocols, and coordinate with medical physics vendors. They help create health and safety rules.
Continuous Professional Development involves stopping work that is dangerous or illegal. They help identify and track health and safety training.
The job establishes and maintains a radiation Quality Assurance program in line with statutory rules with divisional governance leaders, diagnostic imaging leaders, and the Radiation Safety/QA Lead. They develop and execute new IT services and technology to improve the Trust's radiological services.
The job will investigate radiation clinical occurrences, report them to regulatory authorities, prepare the Trust for inspections, audits, and complaints, and receive and implement annual radiation survey reports. They will lead QA team update meetings, work with line managers on Quality Improvement and Clinical Governance and participate in the NNUH Radiation Protection Committee.

• To support in the leadership of the radiation support service in providing ionising and non-ionising health and safety advice, support and services to leaders and managers throughout the Trust in order to assist them in achieving compliance with their duties
