Murphy is recruiting a Senior Planning Engineer with a background in structures/rail to work within our Transportation team on the Transpennine Route Upgrade (East) (TRUe). This role provides a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most high-profile rail projects, with specific responsibility for the design & build of a new depot and deliver a critical enabler to the success of the wider TRUe programme.
The role is based in our TRU delivery office in Leeds (LS9 0SG) with occasional travel to additional delivery hubs in York and Sherburn-in-Elmet (LS25 6JE) or site in Shipley.
As one of our Senior Planning Engineers, you will be relied upon to maintain realistic schedules, identify critical issues, and propose effective solutions that ensure alignment to the broader TRU programme, achievement of key deliverables, and guide the project to success.
A day in the life of a Murphy, Senior Planning Engineer
* Collaborate across disciplines & sub-contractors to develop and revise the delivery programme, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of intended delivery strategy, dependencies, risks, change, and progress.
* Input into periodic progress reporting, contribute insights, identify issues, and propose actionable solutions.
* Ensure key stakeholders across disciplines and organisation are appropriately informed.
* Contribute to the risk register and schedule risk analysis.
* Contribute to change management and the formal identification and impact assessment of change.
* Work closely with other planners/sections to identify and plan critical dependencies.
* Input into collaborative planning and interface workshops.
* Consistent application and development of planning techniques & processes.
* Contribute to coaching, supporting, and formal training of others in the project and across the wider planning community.

* An effective and clear communicator, skilled in building relationships and thrives in large, fast-paced, multi-discipline teams.
* Capable of identifying, challenging, and succinctly articulating issues and solutions that impact project outcomes.
* Extensive experience of Civil Engineering and/or Construction projects with a proven track record of delivering large-scale civil structures, ideally with a Tier 1 contractor.
* Sound working knowledge of NEC contracts, specific to the programme obligations within Clauses 31 & 32 and the commercial interfaces.
* Desirable - full project lifecycle experience, particularly design & build within large-scale rail & structure projects.
* Computer literate with extensive working knowledge of Primavera P6 planning software.
* Based in our TRU delivery office in Leeds with occasional travel to York, Sherburn in Elmet (LS25 6JE) or site in Shipley; must have a full driving licence.
