Title: Senior Legal Counsel (5+ PQE

Client:
I am working with a leading international bank renowned for its commitment to excellence and extensive market presence. This role offers the chance to join a highly skilled legal team supporting the UK’s retail banking division, overseeing legal risk management and participating in strategic initiatives. You'll work across a broad scope of legal issues, contributing to regulatory compliance and simplification efforts in product and service delivery.
Role:
* Provide legal advice and support across Everyday Banking services, focusing on current accounts, overdrafts, savings, and FX products.
* Oversee and lead Risk Steward activities to ensure effective legal risk management within retail banking operations.
* Participate in key governance committees and forums, contributing to regulatory compliance and strategic decision-making.
* Drive simplification efforts related to product offerings, processes, and terms and conditions.
* Regularly inform the business of relevant changes in law and regulation.
Profile:
* Qualified solicitor with mid-level experience in financial institutions or top-tier private practice.
* Strong expertise in retail banking law (BCOBs, PSRs); experience in regulated lending is preferred.
* Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to tailor your approach to a range of audiences.
* Independent thinker with a balanced approach to managing legal risk while supporting business objectives.
