An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Portering Supervisor. You will take on the rewarding role of supporting the management team within the Facilities Department.
To work as a team member with a flexible approach within the Facilities Department. To act as the senior member of a team of general porters, responsible for ensuring their porter duties are carried out following the Departmental and Trust's policies, providing the Trust with an efficient and effective porter service and ensuring that all patients, staff and visitors are courteously assisted and directed in a pleasant manner. The postholder will be required to carry out general Portering duties as and when required.

• Supervise and prioritise the allocation and undertaking of scheduled and ad hoc work, with adequate manpower to meet daily requirement
• Assist with the supervision and training of staff as required.
• Provide effective communication with customers, staff and Portering staff.
• Undertakes audits of other work of the Facilities management team to ensure efficient delivery of service under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
• In conjunction with the Portering Manager, to compile duty rosters and work schedules to ensure that the best use is made of available staff.
• Liaise closely with the nursing staff to ensure the highest possible standards of service to patients, staff and relatives.
• Monitor the quality of work provided by the porter staff. Ensure that the Trust's procedures and policies are adhered to.
• Investigate and resolve complaints speedily and effectively.
• Ensure all waste products are collected, transported and disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the Trust's policy and procedures.
• Be accountable for the correct control and use of equipment and materials used in the department.
• Ensure a full de-briefing is carried out with the duty Supervisor during handover period.
• Maintain the discipline of the porter staff on duty including timekeeping, dress, cleanliness and attitude in accordance with agreed departmental policies.
