The Role
We are currently looking for you to take on the role of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer based out of our Oshawa Assembly plant. In this role, you will get a chance to procure, manage, install and validate capital and operating projects that range from process design improvements to new equipment with a focus on safety, cost and schedule. You will initiate and support process improvements related to the assembly process in your assigned area. You will perform troubleshooting of various equipment such as VDL’s, conveyance and lift assists.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
* Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in our safety processes.
* Understood and effective use of Global Manufacturing System.
* Respond to Production needs and requests for CI including design modification of existing tools, and design of new tools where required.
* Review daily downtime reports from production and maintenance and support machine or system uptime improvement projects.
* Develop knowledge of basic control systems and configurable operator error proofing systems.
* Utilize RTP Next for procurement of project materials.
* Participate in weekend and shutdown work planning meetings.
* Review safety significant events and safety messages and shift notes.
* Compliance training - Hot Work, Confined Space, First Aid CPR, Rigging, Electrical Safe Work Practices.
* Identify ways to eliminate waste in the areas of quality, scrap, uptime, energy etc.
* Support Global Manufacturing System standards including Maintenance Level 4/5 Board, Business Plan Deployment, Workplace Organization.
* Report near misses.
* Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
* Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, designing and project management.
* Demonstrated understanding of Personal Protective Equipment / Lockout / Controlled Access / Fall Hazard / Confined Space and Hazardous Energy Control Program.
* Knowledge of Plant Safety Policy and Procedures.
* Knowledge of area mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Ability to work on rotational shifts.
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
* All required Global Manufacturing System (GMS) Training.
* Understanding of SAP Ordering System.
* Understanding of Process Monitoring and Control.
