TIG Welder
Our client, a growing manufacturing company based in Norwich, is currently seeking an experienced TIG Welder to join their team.
This exciting opportunity is a full-time, permanent position, working the following hours:
Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30
Friday: 08:00 – 14:30
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
1. Ideally have thin plate stainless steel experience.
2. Previously worked to high tolerances within sheet metal.
Work in support of lean processes & continual change in line with the future company vision to achieve and maintain ISO 9001 and any other business needs.
Responsibilities include:
1. Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal parts as required, utilizing knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials, machining, and layout techniques, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
2. Read and interpret drawings, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
3. Select gauge and type of sheet metal, or box sections required as per drawing.
4. Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribers, dividers, squares, and rules, applying knowledge of shop mathematics or templates and jigs to develop and build or form products as per work drawing.
5. Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as break press, band saw, de-burr machines, other machinery like welding kit and laser machine for cutting of sheet metals.
6. Shape metal material using hand tools and/or fly press machinery.
7. Trim, file, grind, de-bur, buff, and smooth surfaces, using hand tools and portable power tools.
8. Use welding equipment, or other methods to bond or to assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
9. Install assemblies in supportive framework according to drawings, using hand tools, power tools, and lifting and handling devices.
10. Inspect assemblies using measuring instruments/tools, such as callipers, scales, dial indicators, gauges, and micrometres as and when required.
11. Repair and maintain sheet metal products.
12. May operate computer-controlled programs or equipment to produce products or components.
Work as a team towards continuous improvement, attend lean manufacturing workshops/training sessions; ensure you work within the company vision to improve efficiencies.
KPIs & Performance:
1. Observe the daily targets and meet the output as required, produce product to drawing utilizing materials and machinery to their best value.
Our client offers a target-dependent bonus (targets are set every 4 weeks).
