Position: Head of HR & Operations
Location: Preston
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 (dependent upon experience)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

About the Role
We're looking for someone who can juggle multiple roles, tackle new challenges daily, and make a real impact on the lives of young people and the community. The Head of HR & Operations role is a key position within a Youth Zone, where you'll lead and manage back-office functions, oversee monthly payroll administration, and serve as the secretariat for the Board of Trustees. It's up to you to ensure the team delivers the best possible service to the thousands of young people who rely on them.

Before the Youth Zone opens and during its construction, there will be elements of hybrid working in place and opportunities to visit Youth Zones across the Network.
About You
We're looking for an experienced and professional operational manager with HR expertise, who is passionate about making a positive difference in young people's lives and thrives in a fast-paced, varied environment.
You will have experience of:
1. General HR functions, including HR practices, procedures and policies.
2. Basic accounts work and/or payroll.
3. Working in senior administrative roles within a busy office environment.
4. Operational management & line management responsibility for a large, varied staff team.
5. Managing budgets.
6. Providing support at Board or Chief Executive level.
7. Working with external stakeholders and partners, e.g. contracts, service agreements, commissioning.

About the Organisation
This is a brand-new locally run youth charity, set to provide thousands of young people with the opportunity to have fun, make new friends, try something new and feel safe. With community-centric values and located in the heart of Preston, it will be an inspiring place for young people aged 8 - 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, to enjoy their leisure. The building is due to be completed in 2025.
