Live Out Housekeeper/Cook Job in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire
A long-standing client of Greycoat Lumleys is seeking to hire an experienced and proactive Housekeeper/Cook to join their fully staffed home and become part of a fantastic team of five other housekeepers. You will be available to support the chef when he is in residence and during larger gatherings with guests. Your responsibilities will include assisting with food preparation for the principal and cooking some meals when the principal is present.
They are looking for someone who can work independently as well as collaboratively with the team, and who has experience working for ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients. Ideally, you should be able to work well under pressure and be flexible with last-minute changes. An interest in cooking a variety of cuisines is essential, along with a passion for preparing hearty, healthy, and nutritious meals. You should also be willing to assist with housekeeping duties when not needed for cooking.
A knowledge of how to maintain and care for artwork, antiques, and delicate surfaces is important, as this is the principal's main residence. The principal travels frequently and has guests staying from time to time, so comfort in preparing meals for up to six guests is crucial.
Duties to include:
* Cleaning to a high standard
* Occasional Service Duties (mostly buffet-style)
* Cooking meals in the absence of the Chef
* Stock control in the kitchen
* Ordering of kitchen supplies and foods
* Helping the principal and chef with food prep
* Laying informal table settings, on occasion formal
* Helping with dinner parties and events on occasion
* Other ad hoc duties as required
The ideal candidate for this role will have good longevity in their previous roles and have a passion for cooking. Discretion is key, along with having a professional demeanor. This person needs to be proactive, efficient, have a positive upbeat energy, and be a driver with a clean license. In addition, previous experience working in large private households or on superyachts would be advantageous or 5* hotels.
Days: 5 days on, 2 days off on a rota shift (flexible to work on weekends when the principal or guests are in residence), usually 1 or 2 weekends per month. When you are working over the weekend, you will receive two days off in the week.
Hours: 8am – 5pm, very occasional 11am - 8pm shift only for events or dinners.
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 GPA negotiable depending on experience.
